Each piece in this collection is inspired by the Destruction of Deepwater Horizon.

Deepwater Horizon was an infamous BP-operated oil rig located in the Gulf of Mexico that exploded on April 20th 2010 creating an inextinguishable fire till it sank on Earth day 2010, dumping over 210 million gallons of oil in the process.

The explosion is credited with 11 human deaths and subsequent oil spilled with approximately 8,000 animal deaths.

FUN FACT(s)
After the explosion charges were levied by the DOI against certain Mineral Management Service offices for taking gifts from BP during the drilling operation, falsifying safety inspection reports, and failing to conduct a review of the BP Deepwater operations for potential environmental impact because the chance of an oil spill was low

Conversely, the owners of the Deepwater rig, Transocean Ltd. were very aware of the accident risk and accordingly insured it for twice what it was worth collecting $270 million dollars after the explosion.
