Wasted Potential

The Cozy Experiences’ first fashion collection, Wasted Potential, critiques the accelerating greyification of our designed world.
Featuring a dozen monochromatic looks re-made from Northern Virginia’s own fashion waste stream.

Monochromatic flattening isn’t just a trend. It’s what happens when vibrancy is stripped away in the name of minimalism, efficiency, and resale value. The loss of color is a direct result of the loss of culture and biodiversity.

Contemporary designers call the trend “Millennial grey,” suggesting that our anxious generation seeks out neutral colors to self-soothe.

I hope I am not alone in my rage at washed-out color palettes, especially from “sustainability” brands, which greenwash us into purchasing neutral-toned versions of things we already have.

I will never choose aesthetic sameness disguised as sophistication.

Instead, I choose to see it for what it is: a glaring example of wasted potential.
