WALLS WE BUILD
ZERO-WASTE, COMMUNITY-BUILT, + ARTIST-LED PROJECT
AnaMarie King, Organizer
Briget Heidmous, Installation Artist
Caroline Bond, Activist/Fiber Artist
Integrating the physical, metaphorical, societal, and institutional barriers constructed to disempower people. This community-built installation indicates what vision, leadership, education, place-making, facilitation, opportunity, and autonomous beings working together might accomplish.
Initially constructed with help from attendees of EARTHFEST 2021. A celebration building community through, mutual aid pathways of recovered groceries, plants, books, and clothes, a guerilla art installation and hands-on workshops teaching the skills that built these art pieces.
The full collection of “Walls We Build” was displayed at Femme Fatale DC May-December 2021
Then partially in FABSCRAP Philly’s Reuse Room in the BOK January 2022-December 2023
